Pantry/Fabric Pest Control

Pantry Beetles Flour Beetle, Drugstore Beetle, Saw toothed Grain Beetle. First remove all infested materials and throw them away. Clean the storage area and vacuum cracks and crevices. Then treat with a good residual insecticide or dust.

Carpet Beetle The varied carpet beetle, attacks typical household objects. Carpet beetles are normally associated with things such as carpets, wool, furs, and any processed animal or plant food. Their appetite also includes dead insects, spiders, and even nectar and pollen. Females can lay up to 40 eggs and the number of larval instars range from 7-8 stages. The time it takes to become an adult varies from about 8 months to a year. In addition, the adults can live around 2 to 6 weeks.

Pantry Moth Indian Meal Moths can infest a variety of foods found in the pantry. Coarsely ground grains, cereals, dried fruits, and herbs are common items the moths have been known to infest. They have also been found in animal food such as dried dog food, dried fish food, and even bird seed. Great to use a flour and pantry moth trap.

Fabric Moth Clothes Moths most common in North America are the case-bearing clothes moth, Tinea pellionella, and the webbing clothes moth, Tineola bisselliella. The adults are yellowish or buff moths, often called millers, with a wingspread of about 1/2 in. (1.2 cm). They lay 100 to 150 eggs on the material which is to provide food for the larvae; they do not feed on fabrics themselves. The larva of the case-bearing clothes moth makes an open-ended case out of food fibers and its own silk; it feeds and pupates (see insect) within the case.

Pantry Weevil Rice weevils, Maize weevil. Finds the infested grains and remove them. Treat cabinets, closets and shelves where infested grains are found with residual insecticide such as Tempo Ultra

Cadelle the cadelle beetle, is a cosmopolitan and common pest in granaries, storehouse and granaries. It is one of the longest lived insects which attacks stored grain and is very destructive and easily dispersed. It is also one of the largest (body length 10 mm.).

Meal Worm Mealworms are the larva form of the mealworm beetle, a species of darkling beetle. Like all holometabolic insects, they go through four life-stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Larvae typically measure about 2.5 cm or more, whereas adults are generally between 1.25 and 1.8 cm in length.

Silverfish/Firebrat As with many colorless or nearly colorless invertebrates, silverfish inhabit dark areas such as kitchen cupboards of houses. Also, they inhabit dry papery areas such as old books and newspaper stacks, but they also usually inhabit damp places such as bathroom sinks, and in tubs. They are usually found high on ceilings in bathrooms, bedrooms, etc.
